Build a LUT from a reference. Then make it yours.
Match a reference, refine individual colors, test real images, and export a technically validated LUT.
ColorDesign automatically analyzes the color, brightness, contrast, and overall tone of your reference image and transforms it into a reusable 3D LUT. Easily extract the visual style of movie screenshots, photography, commercial campaigns, or social media photos.
Image decoding and color grading run locally in your browser. Export CUBE for LUT-capable editors and approximate XMP for Lightroom. CapCut LUT import depends on the version and platform.
From inspiration image to professional color preset in just seconds.

Precision-Engineered for Professional Software
Automated Color Matrixing
Select a source image and a reference, preview the color match, then refine and export a reusable creative look.
1. Ingest Source Image
Load your raw, flat, or unprocessed image to establish the base color matrix.
2. Analyze Color Signature
Upload any master reference image to instantly isolate its dynamic chrominance and luminance vectors.
3. Compile & Export
Reference matching builds reusable color transforms, letting you preview the grade and download cross-platform 3D LUTs.
Interactive Coloring Sandbox
Experience dynamic YCbCr vectorscope and waveform analysis mapping color presets in real-time.

Edge Computing: 100% Browser Sandboxed
Reference matching and LUT processing run locally in your browser. Processing time depends on image size and your device.
CUBE and Approximate XMP Export
Export full-range sRGB 3D LUTs (17³ / 33³ / 65³), approximate Lightroom XMP presets and Full Grade PNGs. XMP is not equivalent to a LUT and excludes Point Color and new refinements.
Perceptual L*a*b* Space Tuning
Reference matching uses L*a*b* color space with Reinhard color transfer, histogram matching, or a combined method. Results depend on exposure, lighting and the reference image.

Protect Natural Skin Hues
Reduces color transfer in the skin-tone hue range to help preserve natural skin colors. Protection uses color values, not face detection or a subject mask.
Highlight roll-off curves
Illustrative tone curve. Preview the film-inspired look, inspect shadows and highlights, and adjust strength for your footage.
Works With Your Favorite Software
Use .cube in editors with LUT import. Lightroom uses the approximate .xmp preset. CapCut import depends on your version and platform; see the workflow guide for format and color-space limits.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about LUT generation
What is a LUT?
A LUT (Look-Up Table) is a file that maps input colors to output colors, allowing you to apply a consistent color grade to multiple images. It's widely used in video and photo editing.
What software supports .cube files?
.cube is used by video editors that support LUT import, including DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. Lightroom uses the approximate .xmp preset rather than importing .cube as a preset. CapCut LUT import depends on the version and platform.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No, all processing happens entirely in your browser. Your images never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy.
What does the Strength slider do?
The Strength slider blends between the original image and the full color transfer. At 0%, you see the original; at 100%, you see the full LUT effect.
What LUT grid size should I use?
17³ (4,913 points) is lightweight and fast. 33³ (35,937 points) offers the best balance. 65³ (274,625 points) provides highest precision but is larger.
How does Skin Tone Protection work?
The algorithm detects pixels in the skin tone range and preserves their original color characteristics while applying the LUT to non-skin areas.

Reference image to LUT: ColorDesign workflow and export guide
ColorDesign matches reference-image colors and previews image or video grades locally in your browser. Export .cube LUTs, approximate .xmp presets, and graded PNGs.
ColorDesign is a browser-based color grading tool for photographers and video creators. LUT Generator matches a source image or video frame to a reference image; Color Studio starts from film-inspired looks. Both let you refine the look before export.
